Samsung has once again pushed the boundaries of foldable technology with the introduction of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and its premium counterpart, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra. These devices mark a significant evolution in design and functionality, catering to the diverse needs of modern users.
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 stands out as the lightest foldable device yet, weighing in at just 201 grams a notable reduction from its predecessor. Its design has been reimagined to offer a wider aspect ratio, enhancing the user experience for various activities, from gaming to multimedia consumption.
The Evolution of the Galaxy Z Fold 8’s Design
When unfolded, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 measures 123.9 mm in height161.4 mm in width and 4.5 mm in thickness. This represents a significant shift from the Galaxy Z Fold 7’s dimensions, being 34.5 mm shorter but 18.2 mm wider. The folded dimensions are 123.9 x 81.9 x 9.7 mm making it more compact and portable.
The device features a 7.6-inch QXGA+ Dynamic AMOLED 2x main display with a resolution of 1,848 x 2,448 pixels and a 5.5-inch FHD+ AMOLED cover display with a resolution of 1,248 x 1,972 pixels. Both displays boast a 120Hz refresh rate ensuring smooth and vibrant visuals. The cover screen’s 10:16 aspect ratio is optimized for tasks like messaging and browsing, while the main screen’s 4:3 aspect ratio provides an expansive canvas for gaming and watching films.
Innovative Display Technology and Performance
Samsung has introduced Flex Titanium display technology in the Galaxy Z Fold 8, which minimizes the visibility of the crease and enhances durability. The displays also feature a low-reflection finish making them easier to view outdoors. Powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy processor the device offers robust performance and efficiency.
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 is equipped with a 4,800 mAh battery an upgrade from the previous model’s 4,400 mAh. It also comes with AI-powered features including Samsung’s Galaxy AI and Google’s Gemini enhancing user interaction and productivity.
Advanced Camera Capabilities
The Galaxy Z Fold 8’s rear camera setup includes a 50-megapixel wide dual-pixel sensor and a 50MP ultra-wide sensor capable of capturing videos up to 8K at 30 fps. Both the main and cover displays feature 10-megapixel selfie cameras ensuring high-quality images and videos.
The device is available for pre-order starting at $1,900 with storage options of 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB. It will hit the shelves on August 7 offering a choice of colors including Graphite, Cream, Lavender and the online-exclusive Pistachio.
