Morgan Supersport U.S. Debut: What to Expect from the British Icon

The Morgan Supersport is making its way to the U.S. with a modified engine but unchanged retro design. Learn about its specifications and availability.

Morgan Supersport U.S. Debut: What to Expect from the British Icon

The Morgan Motor Company has announced the arrival of its flagship Supersport model in the United States. However, this British icon comes with a significant adaptation: a different engine to meet U.S. regulations. Despite this change, the Supersport retains its classic design and charm, making it a highly anticipated addition to the American automotive scene.

The Supersport’s journey to the U.S. was made possible through the FAST Act Replica Car Rule which allowed Morgan to secure federal approval. The most notable difference between the European and American versions lies under the hood. The original Supersport’s BMW-sourced 3.0-liter turbocharged B58 inline-six has been replaced with a U.S.-certified 2.0-liter twin-turbocharged B56 inline-four.

The Power Behind the Supersport

The U.S.-spec Morgan Supersport features a BMW B46 engine, which also powers the current U.S.-spec BMW 330i. This engine produces 252 hp and 258 ft lbs of torque routed to the rear axle via an eight-speed ZF automatic gearbox. While this is a reduction from the European model’s 330 hp and 369 ft lbs of torque, the Supersport’s lightweight design—tipping the scales at just 2,520 pounds—ensures it remains a spirited performer.

A Design That Stands the Test of Time

The Supersport’s hand-built exterior remains largely unchanged, preserving Morgan’s throwback design language. The car features a stretched-out hood, circular headlights, and curvaceous fenders, evoking the look of a pre-war sports car. Buyers can choose between an interchangeable carbon-composite hard top or a folding mohair soft top. Inside, the two-seat cabin retains its classic appeal, now enhanced with a more attractive shifter on the center console.

Availability and Pricing

Morgan is now taking orders for the U.S.-spec Supersport, with pricing starting at $119,995. This is approximately $20,000 less than the sports car costs in the U.K. The company has secured fewer than 50 commission slots for 2026, offering almost limitless customization options. Production begins in August, with the first cars expected to arrive in the U.S. in September. The Supersport will make its American public debut at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering on August 17 during Monterey Car Week.

The Morgan Supersport’s arrival in the U.S. marks a significant milestone for the boutique British automaker. Despite the engine change, the Supersport retains its classic charm and promises to be a unique addition to the American automotive landscape.
