Shokz, a pioneer in open-ear audio technology, has launched two new models that promise to elevate the listening experience. The OpenDots 2 and OpenDots Air earbuds are designed to offer a unique blend of comfort, environmental awareness, and superior sound quality. These new additions cater to different user needs, making open-ear audio more accessible than ever.
The OpenDots Air, priced at $129.95, is the entry-level model available in black and daybreak purple. It features Shokz’s next-generation spherical acoustic structure, known as Bassphere, which uses dual 11.8mm drivers to enhance bass, loudness, and clarity. Users can customize their sound with the accompanying app or choose from preset sound profiles, including a voice-boosting mode for podcasts and audiobooks, and a privacy mode for quiet environments.
The OpenDots 2: Premium Performance
The OpenDots 2, priced at $199.95, is the flagship model that offers more functionality and advanced features. Available in pearl white, gray, and black, it features the same dual-driver system as the Air but with support for Dolby Audio. The OpenDots 2 also includes an additional bone-conduction microphone to improve call clarity by isolating the user’s voice from background noises.
Enhanced Battery Life and Connectivity
Both models boast impressive battery life. The OpenDots Air offers up to nine hours of playback, extendable to 36 hours with the charging case. The OpenDots 2 provides up to 10 hours of playback on a single charge and up to 40 hours with the charging case, which supports Qi wireless charging. Both models use Bluetooth 6.1 and can connect to two devices simultaneously for easy switching between devices like phones and laptops.
Smart Features and Design
The OpenDots 2 includes dynamic ear detection, allowing users to wear the earbuds on either side without worrying about left or right orientation. It also supports Google’s Find Hub app, which reveals the last known location of the earbuds even if they are not within Bluetooth range. The OpenDots Air, while lighter at 6.3 grams per earbud, is only slightly lighter than the OpenDots 2 at 6.4 grams per bud.
The OpenDots Air: Lightweight and Accessible
The OpenDots Air is designed to be a lighter, more accessible option for everyday use. Weighing just 6.3 grams per earbud, it is built for lightweight comfort and ease of use. The flexible JointArc structure and soft silicone materials provide a secure fit that adapts to a range of ear shapes. Powered by dual 11.8 mm drivers and Shokz Bassphere technology, the OpenDots Air delivers balanced sound with clear vocals and consistent performance across everyday listening.
Customizable Sound and Durability
Users can choose from preset EQ modes or customize their sound through the Shokz App. The OpenDots Air offers up to nine hours of playback and up to 36 hours with the charging case. It also supports AI-powered call clarity, IP55 water resistance, dynamic ear detection, and multi-point pairing. The earbuds are available in black and daybreak purple, designed to complement everyday style.
Starting June 4, 2026, both models will be available at Shokz.com, Amazon, BestBuy, and select retailers nationwide. The OpenDots 2 is priced at $199.95, while the OpenDots Air is priced at $129.95.
