The Italian Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy has launched a €32 million fund to help SMEs protect and enhance their industrial property

Italy's MIMIT Funds SME Innovation with €32 Million Industrial Property Initiative

The Italian Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy (MIMIT) has unveiled a substantial €32 million fund aimed at bolstering the industrial property of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). This initiative underscores the government’s commitment to fostering innovation and competitiveness among Italy’s entrepreneurial backbone.

With this funding, SMEs can strengthen their market position by safeguarding patentsdesigns and trademarks which are vital assets in today’s competitive landscape. The program is part of a broader strategy to support the growth and innovation of Italian businesses, particularly SMEs, which are crucial to the national economy.

Fuel Incentives for Agriculture and Transport Sectors

The MIMIT has also introduced incentives for fuel expenses in the agricultural and transport sectors. For agriculture, a credit of up to 20% is available for diesel and gasoline purchases. Applications must be submitted through the SIAN platform by September, accompanied by the necessary invoices and documents as required by the AGEA.

In the transport sector, a 70% credit is offered for diesel purchases exceeding €1.70087 per liter between March and August. Applications for this incentive can be submitted via the Agenzia delle Dogane platform starting in September.

Sustainable Investments 4.0 for Southern Italy’s SMEs

Another significant opportunity is the Sustainable Investments 4.0 program, specifically targeting SMEs in Southern Italy. Applications can be pre-filled starting from September 10 and submitted from October 6 through Invitalia‘s platform. To qualify, businesses must achieve a minimum score of 35 points. A merit-based ranking will be established based on applications received on the same day.

Complementing this initiative is the Entrepreneurial Discovery South program, with pre-filling of applications beginning on September 24 and submissions opening on October 7. Similar to the Sustainable Investments 4.0 program, applications received on the same day will be evaluated based on the financial stability of the applicants.

Cloud Computing and Cybersecurity Vouchers

The MIMIT’s August 4 decree introduced new opportunities for SMEs through cloud computing and cybersecurity vouchers. Pre-filling of applications will commence on October 20, with a non-repayable fund available on a first-come, first-served basis until January 20, 2027. SMEs in Southern Italy will benefit from a fast-track process aligning with the goal to reduce the technological divide across the country.

These funding opportunities represent a significant step forward for Italian SMEs, enabling them to invest in advanced technologies and enhance their competitive edge. Businesses interested in these initiatives are encouraged to review the specific program details and prepare the required documentation to meet the application deadlines.
