Exploring TX Whiskey's Triple Cask Bourbon and Its Unique Aging Process

In the heart of Texas, a distillery is making waves with its innovative approach to whiskey. TX Whiskey, based in Fort Worth, has once again captured the attention of whiskey enthusiasts with its latest release, Triple Caskpart of the distillery’s Experimental Series. This new bourbon is a testament to the craftsmanship and creativity that TX Whiskey is known for.

The distillery, founded in 2010, has evolved significantly since its inception. Now situated on the grounds of the historic Whiskey Ranch just outside downtown Fort Worth, TX Whiskey has become a beacon for those seeking high-quality, uniquely crafted spirits. The distillery’s core offerings include the popular TX Blended Whiskey, as well as a range of in-house-produced bourbons and ryes that have garnered critical acclaim.

TX Whiskey’s Experimental Series

The Experimental Series is where TX Whiskey truly shines. This collection, released a few times each year, showcases the distillery’s willingness to push boundaries and explore new flavors. Triple Cask is the third release of 2026, following the highly praised Vino de Naranja and the robust Full Proof Rye. With Triple Cask, TX Whiskey has created its 17th experimental expression, each one a unique exploration of flavor and technique.

Triple Cask starts with TX Whiskey’s straight bourbon, produced and aged at the Fort Worth distillery. What sets this release apart is its unique finishing process. The bourbon is matured in three different types of barrels: American oakFrench oakand rum casks. This triple-barrel finishing is designed to highlight the distinct influences each barrel type imparts on the whiskey.

The Art of Triple Cask Finishing

Master distiller and blender Craig Blair explains the vision behind Triple Cask: “Triple Cask was created to highlight how each barrel can shape the whiskey in a different way. From the structure of American oak to the softer notes of French oak and the richness of rum casks, this expression brings together three distinct influences in one bold, layered sip.”

The official tasting notes describe a complex profile with toasted oakplumorchard fruitvanillaand warm spiced rum on the nose. The palate offers caramel sweetnessoakand dark fruitcreating a rich and layered drinking experience. Triple Cask is bottled in a smaller 375-ml format, with only 1,200 bottles available for purchase at the distillery as of June 13, 2026, priced at $40.

The Evolution of TX Whiskey

TX Whiskey’s journey began in 2010, and since then, it has grown into a respected name in the whiskey industry. The distillery’s core release, TX Blended Whiskey, includes some sourced spirits but is just the beginning of their offerings. Their in-house-produced bourbons and ryes, particularly those finished in sherry, Cognac, and port barrels, have earned a dedicated following among whiskey connoisseurs.

The distillery’s commitment to innovation is evident in its Experimental Series. Each release is a testament to the distillery’s dedication to exploring new flavors and techniques. From the Vino de Naranja, finished in Spanish wine casks, to the Full Proof Rye, aged for seven years and bottled at 120 proof, each expression offers a unique tasting experience. Triple Cask continues this tradition of innovation, pushing the boundaries of what bourbon can be.

For those eager to try Triple Cask, the distillery offers a limited number of bottles. Alongside Triple Cask, visitors can also explore other TX Whiskey expressions and possibly past Experimental Series releases. The distillery’s tasting room provides an opportunity to experience the full range of TX Whiskey’s offerings, from their core releases to their most experimental creations.
