The Community Services Department of Los Alamos County, in collaboration with Huitt-Zollars and Sites Southwest is actively seeking public input on two proposed designs for the Canyon Road medians. This initiative is part of a broader effort to create a standardized median template that can be applied throughout Los Alamos and White Rock.
Launched in 2026, this project aims to address the complexities of the roadway environment while meeting the requirements set by the New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT). The primary goals include enhancing staff safety, reducing maintenance needs, conserving water, ensuring effective drainage, and maintaining adequate sight distances.
Key Objectives of the Median Design
